Israel and Iran….Are we Ready for the Showdown?

I am embarrassed to say that I do not stay up to date on what is going on in the news and in the world.  I am unable to get passed my feeling that everything we see on the news is just skewed to the perspective that the viewers of that news station want to hear and…….I don’t believe there is any reality in politics AT ALL.

But….I do catch some pieces of information here and there because my husband is Israeli and Israelis tend to know what’s going on in the world.  They kind of have to because they are located smack dab in the middle of a bunch of countries that want to destroy them and the UN seems to support the endeavor

Like I said before, I don’t believe anything that any news channel says.  My husband and I argue about this all the time, but I find it very hard to believe that any body of people that control other people – whether they are considered  “democratic”, “communist” or a “theocracy” ……and especially if they are considered a dictatorship…..have any intention of taking care of anyone but themselves.

I tend to believe that selfless and honorable political leaders like King David are rare and that is why King David is considered heroic and legendary – and most of us even believe that the Messiah is supposed to come from his line of descendants.

The character qualities necessary for a political leader tend to clash with the character qualities necessary for a spiritual leader.  To be both in one…….is extremely rare.

With that being said, since my perspective from the get go is that no leader of any country has good intentions for the country itself, it is kind of hard to even talk about the subject of politics with anyone because I just don’t believe we know what is really going on behind closed doors……and anyone that claims to know should probably do a little more research.

I am sure that they will find many resources that will contradict what they think they know.

So, because I am not an expert on politics I cannot truly have an opinion on what is going on in the political arena…..but I want to mention one thing that is kind of grabbing my attention these days.

Iran seems to be dangerously close to developing nuclear weapons and Israel is not quiet about a possible preemptive attack against Iran to prevent further nuclear development that could potentially destroy Israel.

America has taken the public stance of not having the power to stop Israel at this point.

Everybody and their brother has an opinion on this subject, but the question is whether or not there is hope in sight.

It is clear that if Israel will proceed to attack Iran, Iran will not lay down and take it.

It is also clear that if America (and every other country) insists that Israel may attack and that there is nothing anyone can do about, Iran will not lay down and take it.

I know there are a lot of details that I am missing in between, but as I have said above, I don’t believe anyone really knows the true details…..but, I know one fact that cannot be denied.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has blatantly and unabashedly said – more than once – that the world would be better off without Israel on the map.

Whether he is right or not is not what I am discussing….we all have our own opinions and opinions are not facts.

What I am pointing out is a situation that seems to be coming to a full blown boil and soon it is going to bubble over.

I always take the big picture and try to scale it down in order to understand it from a perspective that makes sense to me.

In other words, if I were to look at a real life picture that was the size of a mountain, the picture is out of focus……..but if I were to take that picture and scale it down so that I could take a closer look, the picture will then become a lot clearer to me.

The situation between Iran and Israel is similar to any situation where two people despise each other and one is a little more vocal and physical about it and the other is a little more silent and passive aggressive about it.

In fact, the reason that they most likely despise each other is due to the vast difference in personality – or thought process.

Why do you dislike the people you dislike?

Now…..what happens when these two people work together everyday and have to deal with each other because they are constantly in situations that the other person has something to do with?

Maybe they can ignore each other for a while…..until the more physically aggressive one starts to antagonize  the passive aggressive one a little – just because he is so annoyed by his presence.

The passive aggressive one may not respond for a while, but if the physically aggressive one continues to antagonize him, he will start to devise ways in his head of taking care of the problem because it is creating and unbearable working environment for him.

But then the boss walks in and notices that one of his employees is clearly antagonizing the other and because business cannot operate optimally when there is tension within the business unit, the boss tries to appease the more physically aggressive employee.  The boss figures that if he can get the more aggressive one to stop bothering the more quiet one, then there will be peace.

But what the boss fails to realize is that the quiet one is not a wimp….he is just quiet and he hates the other guy just as much as the other guy hates him……so now the quiet guy starts to antagonize the more aggressive one passively.  In other words, he starts to poke at him by doing things that annoy him so much with the hope that it will push him to the brink of anger and maybe get him fired for good.

Now it is a competition between the two men and the one that wins is the one that keeps their job……or their country.

I think you get where I am going with this…….

The details to this middle east conflict are unimportant, because 1) we are not privy to them (despite what the news tell us) and 2) it seems to me that we may have a case of two men (represented by countries) that despise each other and it is just a matter of time before one cannot hold off the other……diplomacy plays no role when it comes to ego.

Now what?

I don’t know how to answer this question for anyone else…..I have come up with my own answers and they all have to do with faith in The Life Force of the Universe, however……….. I may be crazy.

But…..what I do want to emphasize in all of this is that there is so much going on in the world and most of us live in reality and reality clearly tells us that things are not OK.

Things are brewing across the globe.

And, p.s., if you think America is in the clear if the beef between Israel and Iran gets out of hand….you know less about politics than I do.

To ignore this, in my opinion, could be dangerous, because being taken by surprise by tragedy can’t be fun.

But…..if you take time out and think about life and our purpose here (and read some of my other posts), you may be able to shift your mind in a way that does not see tragedy the same as you may now.

We cannot control what other people do – especially the President of the United States, Benjamin Netanyahu and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, but we can control our own mind and how we choose to perceive what is happening around us……and debating whether something is right, wrong, good, bad, evil, holy etc…..is never going to help the situation.

In the end, if Israel strikes Iran and Iran strikes back or the other way around, your opinion about what should have, could have, would have happened…………doesn’t make one dime of a difference.
