Recently it has been exposed that in 2009, at the height of the recession, President Obama and his family threw an extravagant Halloween Party in the White House that was hosted by Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. Apparently, their names were kept off the visitors’ log in order to keep the party a secret from the press. This news was reported a NY Times journalist who said that it was kept quiet because the administration felt it was disrespectful to the American people to publicize this party, as so many Americans were suffering financially.
Here is a clip of the Jay Carney’s response to the controversy…
Yes, this was supposedly for the benefit of military families, however, isn’t American in a deep debt crisis? Was the extravagance necessary? Wouldn’t military families be just as happy being invited to a Halloween celebration in the White House and at the same time knowing that our country is doing its best at defending it’s citizens on the home land by saving money in order to pay our debt?
What good does it do to have people fight for our country and put their own lives at risk if our leaders don’t even attempt to balance the budget of our country, which could result in a complete economic meltdown of the worst degree. If our country collapses economically, I hope everyone who is in the military really does love their country, because they will have no choice but to risk their lives for it – FOR FREE!!!
In other words – if America overspends on nonsense without any regard to it’s economic future, what difference does it make why they are doing it? There is no way to spin irresponsibility when it comes to other people’s lives.
